4th Annual Tree Lighting Wings of Hope
Please join us “ON THE WINGS OF HOPE”4th annual tree lighting event. After loosing her only child to heroin Mrs.Johnson a Registered Nurse made a commitment to shed the stigma and shame this drug carries with it’s name.Drugs do not discriminate, segregate or show bias to anyone. As a professional Mrs. Johnson learned the hard way receiving little support from her colleagues. She had to speak up.She knew if it happened to her son it can happen to anyone.
As a symbol for community support and awareness she planted a tree on the grounds of Saint Ursula Center in Blue Point. As it grows so does community education and prevention. This has become a mission of passion for her that all should speak freely with open hearts to be heard from open minds without stigma. The tree is lit with 4,000 mini solar lights.
“ON THE WINGS OF HOPE” tree lighting is an annual event with special guests who will light up your heart. Music, luminary bags ,a Chinese Auction,50/50 and light refreshments are offered. This year the guest speaker is Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy Sini. Local government officials have acknowledged her work and continue to attend as Suffolk County fights this pandemic. As a community we hope you will show your support this Thanksgiving weekend as the holidays are upon us. It’s all about giving back as we join together without stigma or shame to gain spiritual awareness and neighborhood support. The holidays can be difficult for many families for many reasons.
Mike Delguidice,(Billy Joel band member and Big Shot lead singer) along with other musicians have donated their time to support our community families. Our local businesses and families have donated many beautiful items to make this event possible.
